I’m joining #teamMUSA for the #30DayMapChallenge, and Day 6’s theme, Vintage, gave me the perfect opportunity to honor someone who inspires me.

My grandfather,
DAVID B KATAGUE, keeps his mind sharp by writing a blog where he shares stories from his life. Watching his commitment to staying engaged motivated me to do the same with my own craft. For this challenge, I’m using map making as my storytelling medium to bring a chapter of his story to life.

Mapping is about more than data and geography. It’s a way to preserve memory, connect generations, and give place to the stories that shape us.

November is a busy month, but I'll be making a few more maps to celebrate the 30 days.

Mapping done in ArcGIS Pro and details added in Illustrator.
